Bio
Dan was born and raised in Northern Arizona and currently resides in Tucson, Arizona with his wife and two sons. Dan holds an M.A. in Leading Innovation and Change from York St. John University, York, England and a B.A. in History from Northern Arizona University. He is a speaker of Mandarin Chinese and lived five years in Beijing, China, two of which he engaged in research and study at Beijing International Studies University.

Dan serves as the Associate Vice President for Global Affairs and CEO of UA Global Operations at the University of Arizona.
Arizona-Mexico Commission Board of Directors
2020 - 2021
Dan was appointed by Arizona Governor Ducey, to the the Arizona-Mexico Commission (AMC) Board of Directors. The AMC is Arizona’s premier cross-border nonprofit organization with a mission to improve the economic prosperity and quality of life for all Arizonans through strong, public/private collaborations in advocacy, trade, networking and information.

2020 - 2021
Dan was selected as a member of the 2020 Flinn-Brown Fellowship (FBF) . The FBF, within the Arizona Center for Civic Leadership, helps emerging and experienced civic leaders from throughout Arizona expand their knowledge, skills, and networks to help address Arizona’s long-term challenges.

Dan grew up working alongside his parents as they led non-profit organizations assisting underserved populations. His personal and professional journey are filled with stories from Arizona, the streets of Beijing, the jungles of Papua New Guinea and cold Moscow winters. He draws on experiences working, studying and living in locations around the world and the joys and challenges of leading organizations in times of great disruption and opportunity.

Dan draws on his experience growing up in rural Arizona and then studying and developing educational programs around the world for the past 20 years. He speaks to the future of work, the skills most sought after by Fortune 500 companies and how students and employees can "robot proof" their future.

Having lived and studied in China and as a speaker of Mandarin Chinese, Dan shares of the rising global influence of China. Dan helps the audience to better understand the sheer magnitude of the investments being made by China to overtake the US as an economic, educational, military and research powerhouse. Dan also shares his perspectives on how the United States can respond to this growing challenge.
